Robert Adam was a British neoclassical architect, interior designer and furniture designer. He was the son of William Adam (16891748), Scotland's foremost architect of the time, and trained under him. With his older brother John, Robert took on the family business, which included lucrative work for the Board of Ordnance, after William's death. In 1754, he left for Rome, spending nearly five years on the continent studying architecture under. Giovanni Battista Piranesi. On his return to Britain he established a practice in London, where he was joined by his younger brother James. Here he developed the "Adam Style", and his theory of "movement" in architecture, based on his studies of antiquity and became one of the most successful and fashionable architects in the country. Adam held the post of Architect of the King's Works from 1761 to 1769. Robert Adam was a leader of the first phase of the classical revival in England and Scotland from around 1760 until his death. He influenced the development of Western architecture, both in Europe and in North America.

Sturdy, easy, beautiful
Size: 16 Inch
Put these on a coffee table top and it was the perfect combination. It gives an industrial accent to a wood-centered room. Love them.

There is no side to side stability
Size: 28 Inch
This product was easy to assemble and install and came with all parts. The product itself is very sturdy, looks good with a nice industrial aesthetic BUT - there is ZERO stability side to side (lengthwise) as the plates which attach to the wood are too small. I have them set closer than the picture so it is not an issue of being too far apart. If anyone else had this problem AND FIGURED OUT A FIX FOR IT - please share!!

Fairly stable. Good value for the price
Size: 16 Inch, Size: 16 Inch
Great set of stands. You have to tighten them pretty snugly to minimize wobble. Given they are metal they’ll have a little bit more give than solid wood. Even so, a tall desk I built with them remains stable and level.
